Drives
If the heating baskets are the lungs of the Rotary Air Preheater, then the drive system is its heart, which induces the rotor movement and ensures trouble-free operation.
The drive system consists of one or two drives. Increasingly popular is becoming a system composed of two independent drives, ensuring trouble-free operation in the event of failure of one of them (if the customer so requires, we can provide a maintenance-free system of switching between the drives). The power from the gear motor (from a few to a dozen kW) is passed through a drive wheel to a so called pin rack mounted around the rotor circumference, setting in motion the rotor, rotating at 2-3 rpm.
Due to the large mass of the rotor and in order to avoid overloading the drives, we install soft start systems. We can also equip the drives with inverters, which in addition to a soft start provide control of the rotor speed.
